Grilling Together

There is something really enjoyable about grilling with your family and friends. It's the perfect opportunity for everyone to pitch in and cook together. An average, everyday-of-the-week-meal typically consists of one person cooking, but when it comes to grilling it's about team work and togetherness.

Saturday night was no exception. We grocery shopped together, we cooked together, we ate together and we cleaned up together.

Anybody who knows me knows that I do love my space in the kitchen when I'm cooking. I like for the kitchen to be clean and organized so that I can be left alone to get in the zone and work my magic. But with that said, when it's grilling time all that ^ goes out the window.

Grilling is fun, relaxed, messy and all about teamwork. Somebody's in charge of the prepping the meat, other person is in charge of manning the grill, someone has to make the side dishes, etc.

Summer is just around the corner, meaning there is going to be a whole lot more grilling and even more togetherness :)

Perfection on a tortilla!

Even Kennedy is a part of our grilling experience.
My homemade guacamole. It's a lot of chopping and dicing, but it's worth the effort!

Just hanging around

Here are a few photos from our Easter weekend. My brother and sister came into town, so we all just spent time hanging around the condo!
^^ It almost looks like Lola is winking at the camera.
I was very proud of the cake I made, so I had my brother snap a photo of my masterpiece. I typically mess up the icing and cake decorating part because I am not patient enough, but this time I hit it out of the park:)

^^ We have been eating a lot of cheese and crackers at our house. I've heard cheese is addictive.... I'm starting to think that it may be true!
^^ She is cute in her own way.

Saturday night we made few appetizers, turned on some music and headed out to the balcony. We enjoyed the wonderful weather, watched the sunset and took some cool pictures!
I'm so glad we have been using the balcony as much as possible.

^^ My brother has some crazy hair! Guys should be jealous!

We are lucky to have such a pretty view! And I am lucky to have such an awesome dad!

La Tuna

We tried a new restaurant in Southtown last night. It's called La Tuna… It looks like a shack from the outside, but don't be fooled by the appearance the food is delicious!

We ordered fried mushrooms for our appetizer, and they were to die for. As were the entrees we ordered. When we go back next time we will for sure split, because we had too much food for just the two of us!

So if you're ever in the area, and feel like stopping by a cool Southtown joint, check out La Tuna. The service was impeccable, the food was delicious, and the prices were affordable. Just don't forget to try the fried mushrooms!!!

^^ Like I said, SO much food for the two of us!

^^ I ordered the blackened fish tacos.

Happy Easter!

Happy Easter! I hope you had a wonderful Sunday with your family and friends. We sure did! Here are a few photos from our Sunday.

^^ this juice was so amazing! It's made from a hibiscus flower.

^^I'm totally digging the bright cups, that doubled as a cracker holder.

My sweet grandma brought over some flowers for us.

^^Cutest cousins ever! Carlie, Natalia and Bianca^^

^sisterly love^ <3 We had a good time hanging out together this weekend. My sister is so beautiful.

^The lovely ladies in my family. We were missing quite a few, but nevertheless we had a blast!

^ Did you know my favorite color is orange?
^Such a cute, and easy summer dessert!

^The chefs of the family!

^ I wanted a cool pic with my cool Mexican soda.^

^ The strawberry cake I made!

The first part of the day I spent with my family, and the last part of the day I spent with Andy's family. We had a little photo shoot when I got to their house, but I decided I only needed to share these two pics;) The rest were too silly!

^ Rafie Family. Mr. Rafie & David were out of town this Easter. They were definitely missed!

We had a lovely Easter! I rejoice always, but especially on Easter Sunday that Christ died for me and for you and for all!

1 Peter 1:3 "Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead...

Sometimes you just feel like ice cream

I had an extreme craving for ice cream the other night, and anybody who's ever had a craving like this before knows you can't just ignore it! Since we didn't have any ice cream at home, my dad, Lola and I headed out the door to Main Plaza Convenient Store. It's about 3 blocks from our condo, and the evening couldn't have been lovelier for a walk. When we got to the store the worker said Lola could come in, which was really cool! He even didn't care that I was one penny short when paying. That's just two more reasons why we like this convenient store way more than Hippos (another convenient store that is closer to our condo, but has fewer options and is extremely over priced).

After we got our 2 pints of ice cream and an ice cream bar (don't judge-- we didn't eat both pints in one night) that my dad at while inside the store, we headed to Main Plaza to take pictures of the cathedral and water fountains. The fountains have been shut off for the winter months, but as of a few weeks ago they turned them back on. They aren't anything terrific like the Bellagio Fountains in Las Vegas, but they are still pretty cool to look at and photograph.

It's nice to be spontaneous once in a while. It almost always results in a lot of fun! I will remember nights like these for the rest of my life.

City Sites

San Antonio is big, busy, full of tourists and jammed packed with traffic almost always. Despite the downsides, this city is my hometown and it's where I feel most comfortable. I have so many memories here, and although lately I've caught myself saying I wouldn't mind moving I think if it really ever came to pass it would be very tough to actually do.

Here are a few pictures, from last week, of this beautiful city that I call home!

Hanging from the ceiling at the UTSA downtown campus.

Side of the Robert B. Green Campus Building.
La Antorcha de la Amistad (The Torch of Friendship)

Graffiti artist on the street. I could watch for hours, but I think the fumes would knock me out!

A cute sign I saw at an ice cream shop across from the Alamo.

San Antonio is getting ready for Fiesta.
